Starbucks Barista

FT/PT Status:Part Time
Monday through Friday flexible between 7 am - 3 pm;

The days of the week do need to be flexible as coverage will be needed at different times;

Job Summary:
Starbucks Baristas exceeds service standards by providing customers with prompt, quality coffee and food selection, purchase, and preparation.  

Essential Functions:
1. Model "Customer 1st" behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service.
2. Complete initial Store Training and pass barista certification with a score of 90% or better.
3. Greet customers, answer questions, and suggest products to enhance service and meet sales goals.
4. Prepare a variety of customer beverage orders including espresso drinks and Coffee of the Day to standard.
5. Follow cash handling and register policies.
6. Ensure accuracy and attention to detail.

Other Duties & Responsibilities
1. Maintain cleanliness of customer service area and equipment.
2. Perform cleaning tasks in accordance with the Duty Rosters and cleaning standards.
3. Merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing all products.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Ability to follow store and Library policies and procedures.
2. Ability to follow standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing all products.
3. Ability to follow inventory stocking and recording guidelines.
4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
5. Ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions.
6. Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers.
7. Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of Starbuck's products and procedures
8. Ability to organize/prioritize tasks.
9. Ability to work weekends on a regular basis, work any shift and work overtime as needed.
10. Ability to pass drug test.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations. For most positions work regularly requires stooping, bending and lifting, carrying or moving objects up to 40 pounds such as boxes of coffee, bags of ice or other supplies. Duties require standing/walking and remaining on one’s feet in an upright position at a workstation or moving about a work area up to 90% of the time. Duties require continual or intermittent flexing or rotation of the wrists and spine. Food preparation requires continual precision work with hands such as holding, grasping or turning. Occasional kneeling or crawling on hands and knees and/or assuming awkward positions is required. Sensory requirements include hearing and talking to exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, tasting/smelling to distinguish with accuracy intensity or quality of flavors and/or odors, and clarity of vision.

Work environment involves everyday risk or discomforts which require normal safety precautions, e.g. use of safe work place practices including food handling, office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls. For some positions there are usually no major sources of discomfort; work is essentially conducted in an environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditions. For some positions there may be occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less than optimal

temperatures (extreme cold or heat) and air conditions due to exposure to the outdoors.

Education & Experience:
1. High school diploma or G.E.D;
2. Food Handlers permit required;
3. Six months previous experience with customers required;
4. Minimum 18 years of age.
