Client Management Technician

Location:Central Library
Salary:$22.42/hr. - $25.36/hr.
FT/PT Status:Full Time
Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm;
Occasional evenings and weekends;

Job Summary:
Designs, configures, installs, and maintains the library’s PC network using PC management tools and technologies; creates images for the PCs, user accounts, and account permissions that secure the PCs, including PC and print management software and related servers; provides input and advice in planning and budgeting for enhancements, changes, and expansions; resolves problems related to staff and public-use computers. 

Essential Functions:
  1. Manages PC network which includes PC management server and client software, antivirus and security software;
  2. Installs and configures applications to enhance efficiency, compatibility, and user satisfaction;
  3. Reviews user needs and available technology and recommends changes, configurations, and applications to enhance efficiency, compatibility, and user satisfaction;
  4. Troubleshoots hardware and software problems, locates and resolves exact problem or arranges for outside assistance with needed repairs;
  5. Ensures the secure operation of the PCs and all of the corresponding applications;
  6. Provides technical support to TCCL users;
  7. Recommends purchases of some hardware and software to maintain this system;
  8. Research, install, support, and troubleshoot new computer hardware/software;
  9. Provides on-call support rotation with other specialists over weekends and holidays;
  10. Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
  11. Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing PC Client systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  12. Complies with the Process Activated Training System (PATS) scripts when performing job tasks and making additional contributions to the PATS scripts as necessary to continually ensure all tasks are being performed consistently and with the best practices;
  13. Performs other duties as instructed and assigned.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  1. Ability to design, configure, install, and manage Windows, MAC PCs;
  2. Ability to troubleshoot PC client networking problems;
  3. Knowledge of how Windows client/server networks are configured;
  4. Working knowledge of Windows Server OS and Active Directory;
  5. Knowledge of PC configurations and PC protocols;
  6. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.
  8. Extensive experience with core software applications, including BMC client management software or similar applications.
  9. Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  10. Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
  11. Highly self-motivated and directed.
  12. Keen attention to detail
  13. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  14. Strong customer service orientation

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Work routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as equipment, boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on a routine basis, and/or standing for long periods of time and/or frequently requires stooping or bending.

Work environment involves no major sources of discomfort; work is essentially conducted in a normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.

Education & Experience:
  1. Associate’s degree in computer science or telecommunications;
  2. Bachelor’s degree preferred;
  3. Certifications in A+,N+, highly desirable;
  4. Three to five years related experience;
  5. Or equivalent technical training, education and/or experience;
  6. Valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
