Starbucks Supervisor - Central Library

Essential Functions:
  1. Model "Customer 1st" behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service; discover and respond to customer needs.  
  2. Complete initial Store Training and pass barista certification with a score of 90% or better. 
  3. Greet customers, answer questions, and suggest products to enhance service and meet sales goals.  
  4. Prepare a variety of customer beverage orders including espresso drinks and Coffee of the Day to standard. 
  5. Execute store operations during scheduled shifts; organize opening and closing duties. 
  6. Follow all cash management and cash register policies and ensure proper cash management practices are followed by shift team. 
  7. Create a positive learning environment by providing clear, specific, timely and respectful coaching on shift to ensure operational excellence. 
  8. Maintain a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team. 
  9. Ensure accuracy and attention to detail.
  10. Provide quality beverages and food products consistently by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards; follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products. 
  11. Assist with new associate training; provide feedback on shift morale and performance to store manager. 
  12. Merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing all products. 
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations. For most positions work regularly requires stooping, bending and lifting, carrying or moving objects up to 40 pounds such as boxes of coffee, bags of ice or other supplies. Duties require standing/walking and remaining on one’s feet in an upright position at a workstation or moving about a work area up to 90% of the time. Duties require continual or intermittent flexing or rotation of the wrists and spine. Food preparation requires continual precision work with hands such as holding, grasping or turning. Occasional kneeling or crawling on hands and knees and/or assuming awkward positions is required. Sensory requirements include hearing and talking to exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, tasting/smelling to distinguish with accuracy intensity or quality of flavors and/or odors, and clarity of vision.

Work environment involves everyday risk or discomforts which require normal safety precautions, e.g. use of safe work place practices including food handling, office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls. For some positions there are usually no major sources of discomfort; work is essentially conducted in an environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditions. For some positions there may be occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less than optimal

temperatures (extreme cold or heat) and air conditions due to exposure to the outdoors.

Education & Experience:
  1. High school diploma or G.E.D. 
  2. Barista Certification and Food Handlers permit required. 
  3. One year of experience in a position that required constant interacting with and fulfilling the requests of customers. 
  4. At least six months of experience delegating tasks to other employees and/or coordinating the tasks of two or more employees. 
  5. Ability to follow store and Library policies and procedures. 
  6. Ability to direct the work of others. 
  7. Ability to work as part of a team. 
  8. Ability to follow standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating, and storing all products.  
  9. Ability to follow inventory stocking and recording guidelines.  
  10. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  
  11. Ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions.
